eBay's Weekend Promotion Offer

Another week and another free listing promotion offer from eBay. The promotion allows sellers listing fixed price listing to add up to 5,000 listing without having to pay any listing fees. 

The promotion starts today (November 8th) and will run until the end of Sunday, meaning that every fixed listing placed on their ecommerce store by the invited seller over this period will not have the standard $0.50 listing fee. eBay are using this promotion to remind their sellers about the ability to use their mobile application in order to list products.


However, the promotion is only available to sellers who have been specifically invited by eBay as well as only being available to listings placed on the eBay.com website. 

In the past some people who were invited to the promotion simply didn't know because for some unknown reason their email notification were lost in transit. For this reason, even if you don't find an invitation in your inbox, you should still check to see if you have been added to this promotion.

For sellers who are using any listing tool other than "Sell Your Item" the promotion rate will be shown in your "View Account Status" and on the seller's invoice rather than being visible during the listing process.

50,000 free eBay listings for businesses

eBay are running yet another promotion, this time offering all business sellers zero insertion fees between the 22nd and 26th of October. The promotion is just one of many free listings offers that the marketplace has offered in recent months, adding further weight to the speculation that eBay will be offering free listings permanently within most categories once the new search engine "Cassini" is released.

The listing promotion is available on products listed as new 30 day or good till cancelled. Also, to take part in the promotion, you must be a business seller with a basic or features shop subscription. The promotion is available to the first 50,000 listings added that have a price of 99p or more. 

All usual stipulations that you see in a eBay free listing promotion apply. They are:

  • Products in "Property" and "Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles" categories are excluded
  • People who sign up during the promotion are excluded
  • Business accounts who do not meet eBay's minimum seller performance are excluded
  • All items listed for less than 99p are also excluded

eBay selective in latest promotion offering

eBay are continuing their current rise in promotions by offering some users the chance to have free listings on all fixed price items for a 5 day period. However, the promotion is only available to those who have received an invitation from eBay.

This news has disgruntled some eBay store owners as they believe that this promotion is only being sent out to sellers who have little or no feedback. This has resulted in a lot of sellers creating second eBay accounts in an attempt to try and receive an invitation for the promotion. 

However, there are two sides to the argument that are both valid. If the promotion is indeed sent out to only those with no or low feedback (which has not been proven one way or another) then it could be a great way to help people essentially get their online selling presence off the ground and possibly progress into having an online store. Having these users take a more active role within the eBay marketplace makes it better for not only the customers, who will have more choice in terms of where to shop and what to buy, but it will also help generate more traffic to the site which will be a boost for all stores.

On the other end of the spectrum, if the promotion is only aimed at low feedback users, many feel it deprives the more active users on the site from really making use of the free listings, leaving them to simply not be touched in accounts that people probably don't even use anymore. No matter what side of the fence you lie on in the argument, both views can be seen as valid. 

The promotion began yesterday and will run until Friday with users paying no listing fees on up to 5000 listings placed on ebay.com. If you are unsure whether you have been invited to take part in this promotion, check your messages within the "My eBay" section to see if you have received an invitation.

eBay's free listing promotion

eBay have announced that between the 1st-9th of September, private sellers will be able to list items for free. 

As any listing of 99p or less is already free, eBay have now given users the ability to list up to 150 items over this price with no cost for the first 9 days of September. However, the promotion is only available to eBay sellers living in the UK.

Any products listed below the £1 threshold will not count towards this promotion and will count towards your 100 monthly limit

Items listed in "Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles" and "Property" will be excluded from being able to take part in this promotion.

Also, if you use professional listing tools such as "Turbo Lister" or "Selling Manager Pro" you will also be unable to take advantage of this promotion.
